Why have a sleep mode?

I was very excited to start building with Minebot again, then I saw the 3 minutes untell sleep mode activates. I mean why would an app that uses another app to run need to keep being refreshed!? The previous versions never had to be refreshed. Now I know it does say use another device to optimise use, but for the people who only have a single Apple device, like me for example, it would be really awesome If the sleep mode could be removed or costomizable.
